In Chaucer’s “The Knight’s Tale” , this story is a grand romance that seeks to show how love worked within a Chivalrous society. The “Miller’s Tale” seems to make fun of that by showing “love” in a different light.

For this assignment, describe and characterize love in each tale. Focus on the similarities as much as the differences! What is the focus of the lovers, and how do they seek out the object of their desire? Are their efforts rewarded with success, or are they disappointed in the end?
