the meaning of karma Religion Essay, social science homework help

This week we will explore the meaning of karma — the law of cause and effect of actions — in the religions of India. Think up an incident in someone’s life (perhaps your own), and analyze it according to the theory of karma in the Jain, Buddhist, Hindu, and Sikh traditions. First state the incident. Then in four separate points state what a Jain, Buddhist, Hindu, and Sikh might say to explain why the incident happened to that person. For each explanation, make good use of the specific ethical values and key terms used within that religion. 300 -400 words only.

There is a 300-word minimum for this assignment.Visit the CSUN Gallery to view the current exhibit of work by artist Karla Klarin. Write a brief essay with correct grammar and spelling. Describe the exhibition in detail. Write an overview and response to your visit. Did you enjoy the exhibit? From me.

The exhibit was vary pleasant and relaxing. It was shown in two rooms. Most of the art was 3D . Visit KARLAKLARIN.COM

and check out pictures from early 1980-2000. Most of the pictures were from this collection. As for choosing one art subject and discussing it I really liked  LEIGH AND HER MOM,54″ BY 66″ O/C and LOFT ON MILL ,1980, 48″ BY 72.5″ acrylic on 3D.  On the LOFt ON MILL were very nice details. What else I noticed was that on most pieces the artist signed on left corner instead of right and on 3D art the signature was either missing or on the side. Mansion that I enjoyed the visit , never heard of her before , but really liked it and will follow her art . Write from first face like I liked or enjoyed …..

Primary Resource Essay: The Communist Manifesto

Your book discusses how enlightened ideology challenged aristocratic led governments and became the foundations for social upheaval.  Those enlightened ideas included the notion of Popular Sovereignty (John Locke 1690), Individual Freedom (Voltaire), and Political and Legal Equality (Rousseau 1762).  Read page 616-619 in your book.  Now read the assigned reading: The Manifesto of the Communist Party by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, link here.

Compare and contrast the three major Enlightened Philosophies with The Manifesto of the Communist Party in an essay.  On what points are they similar?  On what points do they differ?  Quote and cite the passages from The Manifesto that support your answers.

Requirements:

Write a 3 page minimum essay (typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point font ONLY) comparing the Communist Manifesto with the Enlightenment philosophies of Locke, Voltaire, and Rousseau.  An excellent essay will have clear, concise thesis statement in the Introduction.  Be as analytical and critical as you wish, but support your statements with evidence with quotations from the Communist Manifesto.  Also, be sure to use proper parenthetical and bibliographic notation (Modern Language Association or MLA format).  For example, if you found information on page 699 of your textbook and included it asa quotation in a sentence of your essay, you would put a citation (Bentley and Ziegler 699) at the end of that sentence. You must include citations in your essay.  Don’t just put one citation at the end of the paragraph.  Put the citation immediately following the sentence or series of sentences containing the information.  DO NOT USE LONG QUOTATIONS OVER 3 LINES LONG. You do not need to include a Works Cited page for this assignment.  Be sure to re-address your thesis in a Conclusion.

essay on ritual that employs methods from the academic, interdisciplinary study of religions, social science homework help

    • Write a five- to six-page (1,250- to 1,500-word) essay on ritual that employs methods from the academic, interdisciplinary study of religions. Present a total of three rituals that come from religions of the East: one from India, one from China, and one from Japan. This means that each ritual will occupy around two pages, including a description of the ritual, and two analyses: one treats the Religionist perspective, and one treats the Reductionist perspective. The paper should begin with a short introductory paragraph, and end with a short conclusion. (See below for guidelines on the final paragraph.)
    • Give your paper a creative title and post an accurate word count after the title. Minimize or eliminate errors of grammar and spelling. Write logically, with topic sentences. Use at least three written sources, and provide full and accurate bibliographical citations for all books, articles, and websites.
    • Describe the rituals, providing hard data on each. Include the religion to which the ritual belongs, the place where the ritual occurs, and other basic facts, such as the number of participants, the leader(s) of the ritual, and so forth.

For data on the rituals, you can rely on firsthand observations, videos from the Internet, and written discussions. If you are not writing about a ritual from firsthand observation, you can check YouTube or Google Images. Type in the wordritual, or the name of your ritual, along with the name of the religious tradition you want to explore. You can also add the word YouTube to your search terms to find some video accounts of rituals. Beyond that, you can check websites developed by various religious organizations and study sections of books and articles. Provide complete bibliographic citations.

    • Discuss each ritual separately from the two methodological perspectives introduced in this course: Religionist and Reductionist.
    • Your analysis of each ritual from the Religionist perspective might include questions such as, (a) What religious symbols are used in this ritual, and what is their meaning to the participants?, (b) What ritual actions performed by the people (or religious specialist) are supposed to prolong a hierophany or kratophany?, and (c) What are some of the religious experiences had by participants in the ritual? How might these reflect the mysterium tremendumand the mysterium fascinans?
    • Your analysis from the Reductionist perspective might include questions such as, (a) Was the ritual performed by a certain social class, or for a particular political end? (b) What else was happening in the culture at the time the ritual was created or performed? and (c) Did this ritual serve to bolster the political interest of the status quo?
    • At the end of your essay, reflect on your reaction to these rituals. Base your reflections on questions such as, (a) What biases do I bring to these rituals? (b) Have I viewed the rituals as an insider or as an outsider? and (c) How might someone viewing the rituals from the opposite perspective (e.g., inside instead of outside) react to them?
