According to the study about nurse graduates from higher education levels having a higher productivity, and the direct link to impacts on patients care outcomes, the link appears clear (Yakusheva & Weiss, 2017). The study looked at physiological, functional, emotional, cognitive, mobility, symptom control, knowledge, self-care, complications, injury, falls, pressure ulcers, and infections associated within the relationship between nurses trained at an associate level, or baccalaureate level (Yakusheva & Weiss, 2017). In multiple studies it has been shown over and over again the productivity boost from having an higher education such as baccalaureate nurse level, thus improving the safety and care outcomes of our patients (Yakusheva & Weiss, 2017). Completion of a baccalaureate program increases the nurses intellectual capital, and this in turns raises performance, and consequently productivity and that equals better and safer outcomes and care (Yakusheva & Weiss, 2017). I truly feel, that I’m a better nurse than I was when I started the BSN program, from the knowledge learned so far, and was surprised because I felt I was a great nurse to begin with, so just goes to prove that increasing your education can help you serve your patients better, and safer.
When looking at roles of ADN and BSN nurses, it has been shown that BSN nurses function more independently in collaboration of care delivery when assigned to direct care (Yakusheva & Weiss, 2017). It has been shown through multiple studies that hospitals that employ large numbers of BSN-prepared nurses have lower patient mortality rates, with just a 10%, increase in BSN nurses shows a 7 %, decrease in patients deaths (RWJF, 2014). Even though associate degree nurses make tremendous contributions in the field, more highly educated nurses are needed to navigate an increasingly complex health care system, and ensure that patients who are sicker, living longer, having multiple chronic health conditions, have access to highly skilled, patient-centered care across the entire care continuum (RWJF, 2014). Multiple studies have found positive correlations to lower cost, shorten hospital stays, and most important decrease deaths with furthering the education level of the nurse to a baccalaureate level (RWJF, 2014). After reading and most importantly completed the BSN program, it is clear that patient safety outcomes would be better with a BSN degree, because of the training to critically think, research, and understand more with health disparities, to address a patient, and their situation different than an ADN trained nurse.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), global warming is the primary issues for concern. Noise pollution, overcrowding, traffic jams are some factors that have led to this problem. The acid mantle (or hydrolipid film) is a very thin oily film on the surface of the skin.
Constituents
The main constituents of the acid mantle are:

Water
Lactic acid
Free fatty acids
Various amino acids
Various other acids
Various lipids

Thus, it should not be surprising that the pH of the acid mantle is about 5.5.
Mechanism of the barrier
In contrast, the pH of blood is about 7.4.
Thus, the ##[“H”^+]## of the skin is about ##10^1.9 ≈ “80 times”## that of blood.
If bacteria that are adapted to pH 5.5 manage to reach internal tissues, they will encounter an environment to which they are much less well adapted.
This combination of acidic exterior and alkaline interior is one of the body’s main defences against bacterial attack.

This case study is based on Mr Ivan Jankovic who is 78 years old. He is admitted for a left total hip replacement. He undergoes surgery and is now three days post-operative, in the orthopaedic ward.

Setting the scene
Background- social: Mr Jankovic is 78 years old and has enjoyed good health over his lifetime.
He moved to Australia in his late teens following the communist uprising in his home country in Eastern Europe in the late 1950s. His education was disrupted, and he has worked in a variety of skilled and semi-skilled jobs that have required manual labour at times, retiring 12 years ago. He says his English is good.
Ivan lives independently with his wife in a retirement living unit. His wife Marla is 74 years old and is in good health but recently had a fall and suffered a # wrist that required surgery. She is unable to drive for 8 weeks. They have 2 children – one daughter lives a fair distance away and works full time in a high-pressure job. Their son lives interstate and visits infrequently. They report having a lot of friends and social contact in the retirement village, but their friends are all elderly and are unable to assist at all.
Epidemiology / pathophysiology of disease processes The National Health Priority Areas (NHP) of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal conditions, Mental Health Disorders, Cardiovascular Disease, and Injury Prevention and Control were established with the aim of improving health outcomes in these areas. They were established in response to the World Health Organization’s global strategy of Health for all by the year 2000. They are also the areas with the highest economic and health burden for Australians; this assessment considers the following NHP areas in relation to a case (Ivan Jankovic):
• Musculoskeletal conditions are conditions of the bones, muscles and their attachments (e.g. joints and ligaments). Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis are the most commonly occurring musculoskeletal conditions. They have substantial influence on a person’s quality of life and impose a heavy economic burden on the community (AIHW, 2018).
• Injuries are adverse effects on the human body. They are a significant source of preventable illness, disability and premature death in Australia (AIHW, 2018).
• Mental Health Disorders relate to behaviours and conditions which interfere with social functioning and capacity to negotiate daily life. They can occur acutely at times of illness (AIHW, 2018).
• Obesity is when the energy consumed from food and drink is greater than the energy used, fat is deposited on the body, which over time can lead to obesity. Obesity increases the risk of many other chronic and potentially lethal diseases (AIHW, 2018).

Mr Jankovic is 78 years old and has enjoyed good health over his lifetime. He has gained a lot of weight over the past few years and has severe osteoarthritis in his hips. He also has had resection of a prostatic cancer that has no current treatment and has residual prostatamegaly. He has occasional angina, high blood pressure and obstructive sleep apnoea, using a CPAP machine infrequently as it dries his mouth and nose and the noise annoys his wife.
