Design an experiment. Provide a detailed account of the materials and methods used to conduct the experiment. Also include the methods for data collection and analysis.

Final Applied Lab Project
Addresses course outcomes 1-4:
recognize and explain how the scientific method is used to solve problemsmake observations and discriminate between scientific and pseudoscientific explanationsweigh evidence and make decisions based on strengths and limitations of scientific knowledge and the scientific methoduse knowledge of biological principles and the scientific method to ask relevant questions, develop hypotheses, design and conduct experiments, interpret results, and draw conclusionsThis is the culminating assessment in BIOL 103. It is designed to assess your ability to apply the principles of the scientific method. For this project, you will complete the activity below. Make sure to address all points (questions) associated with the activity.
Final Applied Lab Project
Design an experiment in which you will test the effect of an acidic fluid on enzymatic activity. (Recall: enzymes are proteins.) To complete this project, it may be useful for you to review the Scientific Method Tutorial (found the Course Content section of the classroom under the ScienceLearningCenter link) and the Scientific Method lab (Lab 1), so that you can better understand how to design an experiment. It may also be helpful for you to review your textbook and Lab 4 (Enzymes). As you review Lab 4, you will be reminded that there are several factors that impact enzymatic activity: pH, temperature, and amount of reagent. Feel free to refer to observations and information from Lab 4 as you complete the questions required in the Final Applied Project (see the questions below).
As you design your experiment for this project, please remember that you are trying to examine how an acidic fluid will modify the outcome of an enzymatic reaction. To successfully complete this project, you will need to identify the question(s) being asked in your experiment and the hypothesis that you are testing. In your experimental design, you must clearly explain what you are doing. That means that you will need to identify the enzyme and the acid, as well as explain your experimental protocol (this information will help you to answer question 2). You must also thoroughly explain how the addition of the acidic fluid impacted the overall reaction process (this information will help you to answer question 4).
Hint: Keep in mind that the acid will change the environmental conditions of the experiment (for example, a low pH value could change the shape of the active site on the enzyme protein), without directly participating in the reaction.
Lab Materials
You may need the following, depending on your experimental design:
Materials in your lab kit:
noneAdditional materials you may need:
plastic beakers or cupshydrogen peroxide solution (from Lab 4)yeast (from Lab 4)sample of fresh meat, about 1 cm cubed in size (unprocessed and uncooked, e.g., liver, steak, fish, or poultry—particularly organs)sample of fresh vegetable, about 1 cm cubed in size (e.g., potatoes or other root vegetables)a pen for labeling the beakers or cupsa ruler with centimeter markingsRemember, the goal of this project is for you to evaluate the effect of an acid on enzymatic activity. As part of this assignment, you must identify your source of enzyme and the acid used. As you work though this project, you must also make sure that the following questions/points are addressed:
1. What question are you asking? Clearly state your hypothesis.
2. Design an experiment. Provide a detailed account of the materials and methods used to conduct the experiment. Also include the methods for data collection and analysis.
3. Conduct the experiment and record your results below. What did you observe? Which samples showed bubbling?
4. Use your knowledge about enzymes to interpret your results. It may be necessary for you to refer to your textbook. What effect does the acid have on the enzyme?
5. Was your hypothesis supported? What is your conclusion?
6. Cite all references used to complete your Final Applied Project.

Why are arteries red? | Nursing School Essays

Arteries are not actually red, they do however carry blood that is rich in oxygen making the blood red in color.
Arteries are not actually red in color. Arteries carry blood that is rich in oxygen. Oxygen attaches to the iron on hemoglobin found on Red Blood Cells. The oxidation of the iron on hemoglobin turns the blood red.
All arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart with one exception. The Pulmonary Artery carries blood rich in carbon dioxide from the heart to the lungs.
Veins which carry blood toward the heart. This blood is deoxygenated and rich in carbon dioxide which makes the blood take on a blue hue. The exception to this is the Pulmonary Vein which carries oxygenated blood back to the heart from the lung.

What is the shortest map distance between adjacent genes??

A cross in corn is carried out with three linked genes in a triply heterozygous genotype for the alleles pairs (A, a), (D, d), and (R, r). The dominant allele A results in red leaves; aa plants have green leaves. The dominant allele D results in tall plants; dd plants are dwarfed. The dominant allele R results in ragged leaf margin; rr plants have smooth leaf margins. The triply heterozygote is crossed with homozygous recessives for all three alleles, and the following phenotypes of progeny are observed. Assume that interference in each interval is complete, so that the map distance in centimorgans (cM) corresponds to the percent recombination,

Assignment 2: Reinforcement and Punishment
Social learning theory postulates that gender development is influenced by social environment, which includes the media. An individual’s gender-related behavior is either reinforced or punished during the development period based on the existing social beliefs and standards.
The following assignment will help you examine gender development from the perspective of both boys and girls based on today’s culture and with a look toward future trends.
Using the module readings, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research social learning theory and gender development during childhood.
Applying the tenets of the social learning theory, explain the role of reinforcement and punishment in gender-related behaviors for boys and girls. Address the following:

Identify 3–5 examples of gender-related behaviors that are developed through reinforcement or punishment. Be sure to provide a balanced view for boys and girls, and select examples which apply to the development of both boys and girls.
Explain, in detail, how these behaviors have been shaped by reinforcement and punishment.
Describe your own experiences with reinforcement and punishment of gender-related behaviors.
Comment on the following:

Explain the role of popular culture in the development of reinforcements and punishments.
Describe what reinforcements and punishments might look like in the future, given current societal trends.

Support your assertions using valid research. Be sure to integrate a reflection of your personal experiences and examples throughout your paper.
Write a 2–3-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to the formatting of your paper and the citation of sources. Remember to include a cover page and reference page in APA format. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc.
By Week 2, Day 7, deliver your assignment to the M2: Assignment 2 Dropbox. The post Jane the tutor first appeared on Nursing School Essays.

What specific therapeutic techniques would your theory recommend for using in treatment with your character? In other words, how would you work with this client?

The final paper requires you to write an assessment and treatment plan, based on
clinical integration of the material in the course (see specifics below), utilizing your
preferred theoretical approach (selected from the course readings and assignments),
as it applies to a fictional character(s) taken from popular fairy tales, cartoons,
plays, books, movies or television shows. If you wish to describe a couple or family,
you may take multiple characters from the same story.
An example might be: Write a research based assessment and treatment plan for
“Snow White” using cognitive-behavioral theory, following the details of the Disney
fairy tale.
You must identify the fictional character(s) you are using and base your paper
on the actual story line of the fictional story.
Describe your theoretical approach including the following points:
a. How does your theory help to explain your fictional character’s presenting
problems (i.e., diagnosis) and their etiology (i.e., how those problems came to be)?
b. What are the central goals of your theory’s approach to therapy with this fictional
character?
c. What specific therapeutic techniques would your theory recommend for using in
treatment with your character? In other words, how would you work with this
client?
d. Finally, on a more personal level, how does the theory you’ve chosen fit with your
own values and beliefs?
DO NOT OMIT ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS FROM YOUR PAPER:
Your paper must be written in APA Format including a Running Head, Title
Page and Reference Page.
Your paper should be carefully proof read and corrections should be made
before you submit it for grading.
Use 3 to 5 references taken from scholarly journals (online or hard copy)
on your selected theory. Be sure to use citations by APA Format for
paraphrased or directly quoted material.

Capella University Assignment 7 | Nursing School Essays

Assignment
Arriving at a Course of Action – Collaboration
Resources

Collaborating with other professionals is at the heart of the multidisciplinary approach; it provides the ability to consider the client’s full situation from a variety of points of view, greatly increasing the chances of arriving at a productive, sustainable course of action. In this assignment, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your competence in doing just that.
In the case conceptualization in Unit 5, you engaged with a variety of professionals regarding your case client. Now, assume that you brought your case conceptualization to the table during the collaboration. In the media piece for your case, you heard and responded to each of your colleagues. In the previous unit, you shared a summary of your case in a discussion with your peers. Most likely the discussion offered you some additional insights that could be helpful in assisting your client.
For this assignment, factor in all that you know, including what you heard from your colleagues, to create a course of action for your client. Be sure to read the additional case information for your case located in the Resources.
Instructions
Write a paper of approximately 5–8 pages in which you accomplish the following for your case:

Case Summary (1 page): This is the case summary section of the case conceptualization assignment you completed in Unit 5. It would be a good idea to revise this section based on feedback received from your instructor in Unit 5.
In-depth Analysis (2 pages): Since you initially conceptualized the case in Unit 5, you received additional thoughts and perspectives about this case. In this section, synthesize, integrate, and analyze the additional points of view that you received through the collaborative process. What additional points were offered that you did not consider? How did you integrate the new information? Provide a rationale for the changes that you did or did not make based on the information that you gained, including the facts and what you consider to be the core issues for this client. This section should end with a clear identification of the list of needs or problems that should be addressed, with support for how you arrived at your conclusions.
Course of Action (1 page): Based on the issues and needs that you determined to be relevant, describe a course of action that you feel best addresses each area you identified. Include the best evidence that you can name to support your decisions and the course of action that you are recommending.
Recommendations (1 page): Provide recommendations to carry out your course of action that are specific, detailed, and consistent with best practices in the field. For the purpose of this assignment, if the resources you would recommend are not already mentioned in the case, you may fabricate details about resources that would reasonably be available in the community involved in your case.

Requirements

Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.
APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to APA (6th edition) style and formatting.
Number of resources: Your work should be supported by at least three additional references from the literature.
Length of paper: 5–8 typed double-spaced pages.
Font and font size: Arial, 10 point.
