Review the elements required for a disaster plan addressing an internal disaster. Based on your review, create a 2- to 3-page report in a Microsoft Word document covering the hospital’s (internal) disaster plan for how the staff reacts and carries out their duties in the event of an internal disaster.
Your internal disaster plans should include:
Introduction
Size and type of your hospital (you decide this)
Type of internal disaster (fire, explosion, biological etc.)
Key medical and administrative staff to be contacted
Central point for communication
Particular service areas such as intensive care unit (ICU), labor and delivery unit etc.
Other hospitals in your area and how you intend to coordinate with those facilities (you decide this)
Implementation on internal transfers (moving patients from one area of the hospital to another)
Implementation of external transfers
Evacuation plan

Long-term retention of older adults in the cardiovascular health study: Implications for studies of the oldest old. The Journal American Geriatrics Society, 58(4), 696-701.
Using epidemiological and biostatistical concepts, analyze the article according to the following critique questions, provide rationale.
1. In which paragraph(s) of the study is the research problem stated? Does the study present a statement of purpose? Does the study specify a research question? Is it well stated? Does the study report a hypothesis? Is the hypothesis directional or non-directional? Simple or complex? Was the hypothesis tested?
2. Was there an intervention in the study? Describe the study, is it experimental, quasi-experimental or non-experimental, prospective, longitudinal, et cetera
3. Based on the research goal, explain why the design is appropriate. Is there a design that might have been more appropriate? Why?
4. Was the power analysis procedure used to estimate (1) sample size requirements prior to undertaking the study, or (2) the likelihood of committing a Type II error? What is the implication of the presence or absence of a power analysis?
5. What is the degree to which the research methods justify the inference that the findings are true for a broader group that study participants (from sample to the population)?
6. Are the sampling criteria specifying the characteristics that a population does have and does not have clearly identified and appropriate?
7. Are there specifications of exactly what the intervention and control treatment conditions are, and how they should be administered (if applicable).
8. Which statistical test/tests were utilized in the study, where they appropriate? Why or why not? Would other types of data testing be more appropriate? Do the tests estimate the probability that results obtained from the sample reflect true population values?
9. Address whether the inferences made in the study are accurate and well founded; does the instrument (if utilized) measure what it was intended to measure.
10. To what degree does the study address a problem of significance to clinical practice in general? Are the outcomes useful for improving clinical care?
11. Is the literature review a critical summary of research on the topic? Does the reader have confidence that the review relevant, well referenced, timely, et cetera?
12. The levels of evidence are based on the ranked arrangement of the validity and dependability of evidence based on the rigor of the method that produced it; which level/levels of evidence are evidenced in the study? Explain.
13. Discuss how this study could be implemented in your own clinical practice or impact your clinical interventions in general.
14. Review the threats to validity and describe if and how they were controlled. Review the factors affecting reliability and describe if and how they were controlled.

With reference to Figure 14–10, under what conditions could each of the following situations occur:
a. Program manager and program office determine labor hours by pricing out the work breakdown structure without coordination with functional management.
b. Upper-level management determines the price of a bid without forming a program office or consulting functional management.
c. Perturbations on the base case are not performed.
d. The chief executive officer selects the program manager without consulting his directors.

Across health care settings, many different terms are used to describe the same or similar conditions. For example, a bed sore may alternatively be called a pressure sore, a pressure ulcer, or a decubitus ulcer. While it may be fairly manageable for a nurse to make the connection among these terms, the same cannot be said for a computer system. Nurses have the ability to reason and reflect upon their clinical knowledge. Computer systems are linear, relying on user input to output information. When diverse terms are used, systems are unable to make the connections between the data. For this reason, the health care industry is vigorously moving towards the standardization of terminologies.

Discussion: James Cimino’s Desiderata
Desiderata is a Latin word that translates to “something that is wanted or needed.” It is obvious that James Cimino had this translation in mind when he created his “Desiderata for Controlled Medical Vocabularies.” In his work, Cimino outlines 12 desiderata he believes the health care community should consider when constructing medical vocabularies. He also highlights the need to control the vocabulary used within terminology sets, as well as the requirements for doing so.
For electronic health records (EHR) and clinical decision support systems (CDS) to truly be successful, Cimino, along with many other health care professionals, expresses the vital need to standardize and control the terminology being used in health care settings.
For this Discussion, you will use one of Cimino’s desiderata (or themes) to critically appraise a nursing terminology set:
Cimino’s 12 themes for the 21st century:
· Vocabulary content
· Concept orientation
· Concept permanence
· Nonsemantic concept identifiers

· Review the article “Desiderata for Controlled Medical Vocabularies in the Twenty-First Century” in this week’s Learning Resources. Consider how each theme aims to control the vocabulary used by nursing terminologies.
· Reflect on prominent standardized nursing terminologies sets, such as NIC, SNOMED, SABA, NANDA, and NOC. How might these terminologies compare to the requirements outlined in Cimino’s 12 themes?
· Select one nursing terminology set and one of Cimino’s themes to further examine. Does the terminology align with the requirements of this theme? Why or why not?
By Day 3Post a brief description of the nursing terminology set and theme you selected. Explain whether this terminology aligns with the requirements and why. Provide terminology and vocabulary examples to support your answer.
