Curriculum and Theory

Curriculum and Theory

Along the margins of your textbook in this week’s readings are quotes from the following prominent early childhood theorists: Froebel, Dewey, Montessori, Erikson, Piaget, Vygotsky, Gardner, Rogers, Pikler, Gonzalez-Mena, and Bowman and Moore.  Choose one of these quotes or one you find on your own from one of these theorists.  Use it as the starting point for an analysis of your chosen theorist and his or her relationship to curriculum programs such as High Scope or Creative Curriculum.  In a two- to three-page paper (plus title and reference pages) include the following:

  1. Your chosen quote and a summary of the philosophy of your chosen theorist.
  2. A well-researched summary of High Scope, Creative Curriculum, or another comprehensive early childhood curriculum about which you are familiar.
  3. An analysis of how your curriculum does or does not exemplify the tenets of your chosen theorist’s philosophy
