In the paper, students must present a general background of the issue and discuss at least two sides of the issue.  A student may make an argument as long as he or she provides the argument for the opposing side as well.  General requirements:

  • Each student must complete one paper of at least 2000 words in length
  • Each issue must be current and significant in terms of national government or politics
  • Each paper must have at least one source from the web and at least three sources in all
  • Each paper must have citations within the text and a works cited page (APA format)
  • Each paper must present at least two sides of the issue being discussed
  • Each student must also review the online library’s section on “avoiding plagiarism.”
