Myasthenia Gravis

This week, you will write a mini-systematic literature review. It is mini because you will only be reviewing two sources.
For this literature review assignment, we are going to give you a choice of three topics to choose from. Choose one for this assignment.

Myasthenia Gravis
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
HIV/AIDS
Remember, for a systematic review, focus your analysis on the treatments, causes, diagnosis, and prognosis presented in the literature.
Next, conduct your research of scholarly articles. Use the WCU Online Library databases. You will need to choose two sources to include in this mini-literature review.
For this review, be sure to:

Select two relevant and appropriate scholarly articles that address the topic you chose.
Present a thorough literature review of both articles by summarizing, synthesizing, and evaluating the materials.
Demonstrate understanding of the content presented in the articles.
Include a critical assessment of the sources. Do not simply include a summary of what you have read.
Incorporate citations into your body paragraphs; incorporate the essential and most relevant supporting evidence eloquently and appropriately.
Present your writing in a clear, organized manner.
Provide a strong introduction and conclusion, including further questions for research.
Use proper APA format with proper citations. Review APA Citations Here
Your literature review should be 1–2 pages in length. Remember, you will need to use APA formatting in your literature review and include a title page and a reference page.

Aging Associations and Societies

Your assigned textbook reading this module included two sections in the appendix that included lists of “Organizations” and “Aging Associations and Societies”. You must now choose one organization, association, or society from the lists provided in your assigned readings; You may not deviate from those lists without the express permission of your faculty. Investigate what it has to offer your client and possible caregivers, and discuss the association’s purpose and why you chose this association to share with your client. APA formatting references.

Organizations: Administration for community living, Alzheimer’s Association, American Geriatrics Society, Clearinghouse on Abuse and Neglect of the Elder, Disabled American Veterans, National Senior Citizens Law Center, National Indian Council on Aging, National Institute on Aging, National Council on the Aging , National Long-Term Care Resource Center, Institute for Health Services Research , and University of Minnesota of public Health,

Introduction
The purposes of each case study assignment include the following:

To hone your abilities to research using scholarly sources
To advance critical thinking and writing skills
To compile a response to the prompts provided
To explore a historical topic and make connections to change over time
Instructions
Pick one (1) of the following topics. Then, address the corresponding questions/prompts for your selected topic. Use at least one (1) documented example of the corresponding primary source in your writing.

Option 1: McCarthyism and Anti-Communist Campaigns
The Cold War brought about an irrational fear of communism and communist activities in the United States. As we are learning this week, one of the most vocal instigators of this paranoia was Senator Joseph McCarthy. McCarthy delivered a speech about the imminent threat of communism on February 9, 1950. Perform a search on the internet and locate and read Joseph McCarthy’s speech given in Wheeling, West Virginia on February 9, 1950. Copy and paste the following keywords into your Google search bar: “Joseph McCarthy, Wheeling, West Virginia.” The speech is also referred to as “Enemies from Within.”

Construct the case study by responding to the following prompts:

Explain how Senator Joseph McCarthy defined communist nations within the speech. What specific threats did these nations pose?
Assess if Senator Joseph McCarthy charges were accurate.
Analyze anti-communist sentiments during the Cold War era, were these sentiments valid. If so, how? If not, why not?
Explain if there are other examples of events similar to the Red Scare that have occurred throughout history and modern day.
Examine what happened to people who invoked the Fifth Amendment, refused to appear or were found in violation of the law as defined by the Congressional Committee.
Option 2: The Civil Rights Movement
Using the Internet, locate and read Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech given in Washington D.C., August 1963. Copy and paste the following keywords into your Google search bar: “I Have a Dream by Martin Luther King, Jr.” Feel free also to locate and incorporate additional scholarly sources to respond to this case study, including information on the Civil Rights Movement.

Construct the case study by responding to the following prompts:

Explain if the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s effectively changed the nation.
What effect would the Civil Rights Acts have across the continent on minority groups?
Do you think that the tactics and strategies that civil rights activists used in the 1960s would apply to today’s racial and ethnic conflicts? Why or why not?
Do the ideas of the 1960s still have relevance today? If so how? If not, why not?
Analyze how the Civil Rights Movement would impact diversity in America today.
Option 3: American Domestic and Foreign Policies (1953-1991)
Complete a search either in the Chamberlain Library or internet for domestic and foreign polices of four (4) of the following Presidents. Please incorporate at least one primary source of either a policy or act that you have chosen to write about.

Eisenhower
Kennedy
Johnson
Nixon
Ford
Carter
Reagan
Then, compare domestic and foreign polices of your four (4) presidents by answering the following prompts:

Explain how your selected presidents worked to improve the United States economically and socially. Give at least one example of each president.
Assess if the policies of your choice of presidents strengthen or weaken the United States.
Explain how you see your choice of presidents served the public interest and further the cause of democracy.
Determine if it is constitutional for the United States to fight preemptive wars.
Determine if human rights and morality should be the cornerstones of United State foreign policy.

Initial Post Week 8

APA format, 3 references 1 from walden university library, 1 and half pages long

Initial Post Week 8

Teamwork is important as it can help inspire innovation and creativity (Chiang, Chapman, & Elder, 2011). Some of the benefits include creativity, learning, blending strengths, trust, conflict resolution skills, ownership and risk-taking (Mattson, 2015). Luckily the group I am a part of has been amazing to work with. Everyone is professional, contributes, and communicates appropriately.  Of course, this isn’t always the case. Teamwork isn’t always positive and can come with its barriers which can include meaning, time, work culture, equality, and conflicting views (Chiang, Chapman, & Elder, 2011). Group projects in the online setting can be even harder as most times your group members live quite far away and the only way to contact them is through phone and video chats and email. “It was hypothesized that groups receiving more support from the facilitator, getting more acquainted with teammates, building more trust, having clearer communication among teammates, and involving better organization practices would have greater satisfaction with online collaboration experiences” (Tseng, Ku, Wang, & Sun, 2009, para 31). We have tried to make time by scheduling meetings when it works for the most amount of people and doing it via video chat so that we can all see each and bounce ideas off of each other (Chiang, Chapman, & Elder, 2011). We have made the due dates far enough in advance that everyone has plenty of time to work around their schedules to get the work done. We have split up the work fairly so that no one feels like they have more to do than anyone else.

One of the barriers that we have had to overcome is time (Chiang, Chapman, & Elder, 2011). Everyone has busy lives, children, shift work, families, friends, and school. Sometimes it is hard to find the time to all get together for meetings or to find time to get all of the work done. Strategies that Chiang, Chapman, & Elder (2011) recommend include agendas/readings handed out early so people have enough time to review before meeting and to try and schedule meetings at convenient and acceptable times to people’s schedule (Chiang, Chapman & Elder, 2011). When working together to develop curriculum it is important to make sure everyone involved has a chance to give their input no matter how busy each other’s schedule is. Another interesting barrier I read about which I feel applies to all groups in this class in unfamiliarity of team members. Since we don’t know each other well, we don’t know all of each other’s strengths. Creating smaller teams is a strategy to overcome this barrier (Kalisch & Begeny, 2005). This is beneficial for a nurse educator as when providing group education sessions the educator will know to create smaller group sizes.
