Managed Care Organizations,

Assignment

Complete ALL of the bullet points below:

Compare and contrast each of the three questions related to Managed Care Organizations, Medicare, and Medicaid with one another and explain how they were similar and different to each other.

  • Managed care organizations emphasize physicians’ responsibilities to control patient access to expensive hospitalization and specialty care, a principle dubbed “gatekeeping.” Some argue that “gatekeeping” is unethical because it introduces financial factors into treatment decisions. Others say it improves quality by promoting the use of the most appropriate levels of care.
  • Medicare is an area that often gets overlooked and is seen as a burden financially. Discuss alternatives to ease the drain on Medicare resources.
  • Medicaid is shouldering an ever-increasing burden of cost for long-term care for the elderly, with enormous impacts on state budgets throughout the nation. Discuss alternatives to ease this drain on Medicaid resources.

Please submit one APA formatted table, (minimum 1500 words) that highlights the above content make sure to include a title and reference page. The assignment should have a minimum of two scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook.

Nutrition Project

Social Responsibility Assessment – Nutrition Project

SAVE THE DOCUMENT WITH YOUR NAME AND ID#

Please read and follow the instructions for this research project.

Write an essay that will increase your knowledge of a nutrition or health related problem among different cultures, communities or populations, and how you could as an individual, be able to engage in community activities to implement possible solutions to the problem. You may use research from local, national or international sources. About 500 words, enough to discussed what the problem is and how could you get involved.

For example, something that came out during the last winter Olympics was that in the figure skating’s culture, it is a priority to maintain certain body weight, that sometimes will lead into poor eating habits and eating disorders, reason by which some athletes have been up front trying to promote healthy eating habits and still get the results they want. So, they are showing how they can engage into the problem and try to have a solution or improve the outcome.

Recently, many 4-year universities and community colleges have implemented Food Pantries to help the students that suffer of food insecurity. This could be a good topic to research the impact of the food pantries and how the students could use them and also participate and get involve.

You may already be a participant of a group or organization in your community where you volunteer your time trying to improve some specific problem, so you may use that as your topic.

Attached is the Social Responsibility Rubric, to give you an idea of what information you should include in your paper.

General Rules: Review your grammar before submitting, font 12- Times New Roman or 10-Arial, double space, no more than 3 pages. At least 3 citations that could be an additional page. Use APA format for text or articles citations, you may use the following website as a Reference:

Emergency Department

Read the following scenario and discuss the questions that follow. I attached some article it may help, but you still can use any article that you preferred.

Frank Hershey is a 60-year-old male who is brought to the Emergency Department following an automobile accident. The car Frank was driving swerved off the road into the median, where the car’s front end hit a highway bridge. Frank is treated for minor injuries, and several lab tests are ordered. Frank’s blood alcohol level (BAL) is .20% (0.20%), and his liver enzymes are elevated. Assessment findings include lethargy, an enlarged liver on palpation, jaundiced skin and sclera, and ascites. Frank is admitted for further evaluation with a medical diagnosis of cirrhosis.

  • Discuss which lab values you anticipate will be elevated.
  • Explain how the symptoms displayed are connected to the lab values you anticipate. Choose at least two symptoms and explain in detail. (You may also discuss symptoms you might anticipate but that are not listed in the scenario, there are many. Please provide rationale).

family dynamics

Tina is 5 years old, lives with her mother and grandmother. Mother works 2 jobs to help support her mother and her daughter. Tina is well cared for but is now admitted for a cardiac catheterization due to the Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) that was noted at birth.

Tina has an extensive history of respiratory infections and a nursing diagnosis of ‘activity intolerance’. Her mother relates that she does not allow her to play organized or competitive games due to her health. Tina smiles broadly when you come in the room to begin the pre-operative checklist. She starts to ask you a question when her grandmother tells her she must stay in the bed. “The nurse knows what she is doing and you will just be in the way.” Tina continues to smile at you but moves back to the bed.

You have identified some unique family dynamics, please relate.

What is the Erikson developmental level that Tina should exhibit?

And where do you think she is?

How can you assist in the developmental growth?

What education can you give to Tina and her grandmother pre operatively?

What will she expect post operatively?

stakeholders

We are seeing rapid change in primary care as stakeholders are demanding higher quality healthcare at reduced costs. After reading the Cuenca (2017) and Shi, et al. (2017) articles, provide a synthesis-level evaluation of how you believe the patient-centered medical home and value-based payment models will (1) impact your personal practice as a nurse practitioner, and (2) transform the way primary care is delivered in the United States.

health problem

In this assignment, you will develop two separate infographics (informative posters) to discuss two separate health issues relevant to the LGBT communities. In each infographic you will discuss:

  • What is the health problem
  • Which group(s) are most likely to be at risk
  • What social/behavioral/health system determinants affect this
  • Identify at least two potential interventions/activities the community, community health agency, community health nurse could offer to prevent and or support this health issue
  • What resistance might be met in implementing the intervention/activity

View these links on how to create infographics:

You should submit two infographics and one reference list containing at least three scholarly sources. These can be submitted as three separate files.

Nursing Conflict
MUSIC] Thank you for agreeing to talk to me about the discussion we had the other day about assigning patient load. As I started to say in the meeting but got interrupted, it is that I really don’t like the new plan that we have. I like the old one better and I don’t understand why we need to change.
I think that they expressed one concern about visiting patients in Iron Ridge. And that is the key as they were with high crime rate. We all recognize this issue. I do understand, but the new patient assignment scheme is meant to match you with a patient who will most benefit from your specialty and not where you live geographically.
There are many patients in Iron Ridge who have diabetes that need your expertise. [BLANK_AUDIO] Well, I really do love my patients, and I don’t hold it against them that they live in a bad part of town. But frankly, I’m afraid. Every night when I watch the news, there’s somebody that’s been involved in a shooting or a carjacking.
I talked to my husband about it, and he said that if you insist I go over there, he wants me to quit because it’s not safe. [BLANK_AUDIO] I have an idea I would like to explore with you. What if we sent an escort to accompany you on your visit?
Would this help you feel safer in that neighborhood? Sure it would, but do you think that’s realistic? The last I heard, we didn’t have any money to give us nurses raises and bonuses. I mean, do we even have the budget for something like security? It’s realistic as long as I can justify the safety of our nurses.
Let’s say the cost is a barrier to this scheme. What do you think? [BLANK_AUDIO] Well let me think about it. I need to talk to my husband too. I can’t decide right now. But you’ve given me something to consider. [MUSIC]

At times the needs of our families conflict with our work responsibilities. Could this possibly be the underlying issue here?

Explain the conflict resolution skills displayed by the leader in the scenario. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate those of the leader?
How might earlier collaboration have been beneficial? What other leadership skills should be used?

demographic variables

1.Question

What demographic variables were measured at the nominal level of measurement in the Oh et al.(2014)study?

Answer:The demographic variabless measured at the nominal level include non-smoker,non-drinker,history of fracture, regular exercise and are considered nominal because can be describe by precentages, and mode.

2.Question

What statistic were calculated to describe body mass index(MBI) in this study? Were these appropiate?

Answer:Mean and standard deviation were the statistic used to calculated BMI.Because BMI is an interval-ratio variable, mean and stadard deviation are appropiate.

3.Question

Were the distributions of scores for BMI similar for the intervention and control groups?

Answer:The distribution of scores for BMI was similar for intervention and control groups because the mean and standard deviation were very similar.

4.Question

Was there a significant difference in BMI between the intervention and control groups?

Answer:There was not a significant difference in BMI between the intervention group and the control group.

5.Question

Bssed on the sample size of N=41,what frequency and percentage of the sample smoked? What frequency and percentage of the sample were non-drinkers(alcohol)?Show your calculations and round to the nearest whole percent.

Answer:

Frequency of participants who smoked=0+0=0

Percentage of participants who smoked=0%

Frequency of participants who were non-drinkers=20+20=40

6.Question

What measurement method was used to measure the bone mineral density(BMD) for the study participants?Discuss the quality of this measurement method and document your response.

Answer:The bone mineral density (BMD) was measurement by ratio/interval level. The mean and standard deviation equal central location and dispersion gives us the shape of the graph.

7.Question

What statics was calculated to determine differences between the intervention and control groups for the lumbar and femur neck BMDs?Were the groups significantly different for BMDs?

Answer:The statistic used to to determined the difference between the intervention and control groups for the lumbar and femur neck BMDs was the mean. The value between lumbar and femur neck does not show us a significant difference.

8.Question

The researchers stated that there were no significant differences in the baseline characteristics of the intervention and control groups(see Table 2).Are these groups heterogeneous or homogeneous at the beginning of the study? Why is this important in testing the effectiveness of the therapeutic lifestyle modification(TLM)program?

Answer: These groups are homogeneous, homogeneous scores are similar, and heterogeneous scores are diferent having a wide variation. This was a key factor because if the groups were heterogeneous the the data results would have been broader and more detailed.I feel as if if we compared the groups with similarities in the beggining, then this allows the results to be more profound when all is concluded.

9.Question

Oh ET AL.(2014,P.296)stared that adherence rate to the TLM program was 99.6%.Discuss the importance of intervention adherence, and document your response.

Answer:The adherence rate was almost at 100% during the 2 week time period. If the adherence rate would have ben less then the significance and importance of the results would have declined significantlly.I would not put in question the data results as they 99.6% for adherence and the group showed increase.I believe the TLM program is effective.

10.Question

Was the sample for this study adequately described?

Answer:Yes, the sample was adequate, the group showed that the program worked, the program consisted of a mix of individuals and even though it functioned well, I believe if the study was done with more individuals and done at longer intervals, then it would indicate and show more accurate results.
