patient and   family care

Details:
Understanding family structure and style is essential to patient and   family care. Conducting a family interview and needs assessment   gathers information to identify strengths, as well as potential   barriers to health. This information ultimately helps develop   family-centered strategies for support and guidance.

This family health assessment is a two-part assignment. The   information you gather in this initial assignment will be utilized for   the second assignment in Topic 3.

Develop an interview questionnaire to be used in a family-focused   functional assessment. The questionnaire must include three   open-ended, family-focused questions to assess functional health   patterns for each of the following:

  1. Values/Health Perception
  2. Nutrition
  3. Sleep/Rest
  4. Elimination
  5. Activity/Exercise
  6. Cognitive
  7. Sensory-Perception
  8. Self-Perception
  9. Role Relationship
  10. Sexuality
  11. Coping

Select a family, other than your own, and seek permission from the   family to conduct an interview. Utilize the interview questions   complied in your interview questionnaire to conduct a family-focused   functional assessment. Document the responses as you conduct the interview.

Upon completion of the interview, write a 750-1,000-word paper.   Analyze your assessment findings. Submit your questionnaire as an   appendix with your assignment.

Include the following in your paper:

  1. Describe the family structure. Include individuals and any     relevant attributes defining the family composition, race/ethnicity,     social class, spirituality, and environment.
  2. Summarize the     overall health behaviors of the family. Describe the current health     of the family.
  3. Based on your findings, describe at least     two of the functional health pattern strengths noted in the     findings. Discuss three areas in which health problems or barriers     to health were identified.
  4. Describe how family systems     theory can be applied to solicit changes in family members that, in     turn, initiate positive changes to the overall family functions over   time.

Cite at least three peer-reviewed or scholarly sources to complete   this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 years   and appropriate for the assignment criteria.

ANA Code of Ethics

You will develop a 9- to 12-page paper that outlines a health advocacy campaign designed to promote policies to improve the health of a population of your choice. This week, you will establish the framework for your campaign by identifying a population health concern of interest to you. You will then provide an overview of how you would approach advocating for this issue. In Week 9, you will consider legal and regulatory factors that have an impact on the issue and finally, in Week 10, you will identify ethical concerns that you could face as an advocate. Specific details for each aspect of this paper are provided each week. The Final Paper will be due in Week 10. This paper will serve as the Portfolio Application for the course.

Before you begin, review the complete Assignment.

This week, begin developing your health advocacy campaign by focusing on the following:

To prepare for this final portion of your paper:

  • Review provisions 7, 8, and 9 of the ANA Code of Ethics in relation to advocacy for population health.
  • Reflect on the ethical considerations you may need to take into account in your advocacy campaign.
  • Research the ethical considerations and lobbying laws relevant to the location where your advocacy campaign will occur.
  • Consider potential ethical dilemmas you might face in your campaign.

To complete: Revise and combine parts one and two of your previous papers and add the following:

  • Explain any ethical dilemmas that could arise during your advocacy campaign, and how you would resolve them.
  • Describe the ethics and lobbying laws that are applicable to your advocacy campaign.
  • Evaluate the special ethical challenges that are unique to the population you are addressing.
  • Provide a cohesive summary for your paper.

Reminder: You will submit one cogent paper that combines the previous applications (Parts One and Two) plus the new material.

Your paper should be about 10 pages of content, not including the title page and references.

public health system

Purpose

This week’s graded topics relate to the following Course Outcome (CO).

  • CO 1: Apply principles of nursing theory to the public health system by analyzing determinants of health and the public health intervention wheel. (PO 1)

Discussion

What are some factors that make some people healthy and others ill? Healthy People 2020 identifies five determinants of health that influence the health of individuals and populations. Healthy People 2020 describes them as “a range of personal, social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health status” (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2018, About Determinants of Health, para. 1). Determinants fall into five categories, including (a) policy making, (b) social factors, (c) health services, (d) individual behavior, and (e) biology and genetics.

Professor’s comment: Hello Class, please consider the following questions this week and share your responses in discussion.

  1. public health system What changes would need to happen in the community for the determinant of health you chose to improve? How might nurses be involved in those changes?
  2. How would the actions you might take as a community health nurse be different from or similar to the actions you might take in your current nursing role?
  3. What consequences would the community face if the determinant of health you chose does not improve?
  4. How does this topic relate to one or more of the essential public health services discussed in the Nies and McEwen text?

Thanks,

Dr. Petko

 Ethics in Public Health Research.

Assignment

You will need to discuss the fragile balance between the need for public health agencies to acquire data and the demand for security of sensitive information. Review the article Ethics in Public Health Research.

As public health director in a small county, you must maintain records that track diabetes rates, the incidence of HIV, and immunization records. Recently, there have been at least two breaches when computers were stolen from employees or an outside hacker broke into the system and downloaded data.

Now you must write an open letter addressing the community and explain how the department is going to protect the information. In your letter, address the following questions.

1. Explain why the health department collects this information conveying the idea of how it serves the greater good.

2. Discuss the public’s interest in privacy and why this is important in our society.

3. Discuss why the department needs to infringe on the community’s privacy.

4. Explain how the department might ensure greater security.

5. Be sure to identify at least one applicable regulation, statute, or source that supports the ability of the department to collect this information.

Assignment Expectations

1. Limit your response to 3 pages, not including title and reference pages.

2. Be sure to utilize at least 3-4 scholarly references to support your discussions.

3. Be sure to properly cite your references within the text of your assignment and listed at the end.

4. Be sure to apply critical thinking skills to the write-up of your assignment, especially for numbers 1, and 2 above.

Interview

This assignment requires you to interview one person and requires an analysis of your interview experience.

Part I: Interview

Select a patient, a family member, or a friend to interview. Be sure to focus on the interviewee’s experience as a patient, regardless of whom you choose to interview.

Review The Joint Commission resource found in topic materials, which provides some guidelines for creating spiritual assessment tools for evaluating the spiritual needs of patients. Using this resource and any other guidelines/examples that you can find, create your own tool for assessing the spiritual needs of patients.

Your spiritual needs assessment survey must include a minimum of five questions that can be answered during the interview. During the interview, document the interviewee’s responses.

The transcript should include the questions asked and the answers provided. Be sure to record the responses during the interview by taking detailed notes. Omit specific names and other personal information through which the interviewee can be determined.

Part II: Analysis

Write a 500-750 word analysis of your interview experience. Be sure to exclude specific names and other personal information from the interview. Instead, provide demographics such as sex, age, ethnicity, and religion. Include the following in your response:

  1. What went well?
  2. Were there any barriers or challenges that inhibited your ability to complete the assessment tool? How would you address these in the future or change your assessment to better address these challenges?
  3. How can this tool assist you in providing appropriate interventions to meet the needs of your patient?
  4. Did you discover that illness and stress amplified the spiritual concern and needs of your interviewee? Explain your answer with examples.

Submit both the transcript of the interview and the analysis of your results. This should be submitted as one document. The interview transcript does not figure into the word count.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide,

healthcare organization’s service

For this task, you will complete a SWOT analysis to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of a specific healthcare organization’s service or product. Based on your SWOT analysis, you will then propose an additional service or product to market for the organization, while also comparing it to a competing healthcare organization’s service or product.

This task is designed to provide practice for the analysis, service proposal, and competition analysis that you will complete as part of Final Project Milestone Two in Module Five.

The assignment is due Sunday 11/24. The rubric and worksheet with information are attached.

Change Implementation and Management Plan

It is one of the most cliché of clichés, but it nevertheless rings true: The only constant is change. As a nursing professional, you are no doubt aware that success in the healthcare field requires the ability to adapt to change, as the pace of change in healthcare may be without rival.

As a professional, you will be called upon to share expertise, inform, educate, and advocate. Your efforts in these areas can help lead others through change. In this Assignment, you will propose a change within your organization and present a comprehensive plan to implement the change you propose.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Resources and identify one change that you believe is called for in your organization/workplace.
    • This may be a change necessary to effectively address one or more of the issues you addressed in the Workplace Environment Assessment you submitted in Module 4. It may also be a change in response to something not addressed in your previous efforts. It may be beneficial to discuss your ideas with your organizational leadership and/or colleagues to help identify and vet these ideas.
  • Reflect on how you might implement this change and how you might communicate this change to organizational leadership.

The Assignment (5-6-minute PowerPoint presentation):

Change Implementation and Management Plan

Create a narrated PowerPoint presentation of 5 or 6 slides with video that presents a comprehensive plan to implement the change you propose.

Your presentation should be 5–6 minutes in length and should include a video with you as presenter.

Your Change Implementation and Management Plan should include the following:

  • An executive summary of the issues that are currently affecting your organization/workplace (This can include the work you completed in your Workplace Environment Assessment previously submitted, if relevant.)
  • A description of the change being proposed
  • Justifications for the change, including why addressing it will have a positive impact on your organization/workplace
  • Details about the type and scope of the proposed change
  • Identification of the stakeholders impacted by the change
  • Identification of a change management team (by title/role)
  • A plan for communicating the change you propose
  • A description of risk mitigation plans you would recommend to address the risks anticipated by the change you propose
