Disorders of White Blood Cells and Lymphoid Tissues

Case Study 9

Disorders of White Blood Cells and Lymphoid Tissues

Max is a 60-year-old living in Iowa. For the 27 years, he has been working in the agricultural industry, particularly in the management of corn production. Recently he began to feel weak during work and tired easily. During the night he woke up sweating, and he often felt unusually warm during the day. Max was also surprised that, in spite of eating regularly, his weight was declining and his work pants were now too large for him. Upon physical examination, his physician noted his inguinal lymph nodes were swollen although Max said they were not sore. Subsequent laboratory tests confirmed follicular, non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Chemotherapy in conjunction with rituximab was immediately initiated.

  1. What are the key cellular differences between non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Hodgkin lymphoma?
  2. The early manifestations of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Hodgkin lymphoma in lymphatic tissue appear differently. In terms of lymphatic presentation, how would these two diseases appear clinically?
  3. What are the pharmacologic properties of rituximab, and what is its mechanism of action on malignant cells?
  4. Outline the structure of lymph node parenchyma including the areas where B and T lymphocytes reside. Where did Max’s lymphoma arise?

Laying the Foundation for New Approaches to Practice

Application 2: Laying the Foundation for New Approaches to Practice

As frequently noted in the literature, there is often a gap between research evidence and practice. This is not a new phenomenon; however, with the rapid growth of knowledge, it is essential that nurses hone their ability to identify this gap, determine best practices based on the evidence, and then apply this evidence to practice through the development of new approaches. In order for that to transpire, nurses must be skilled in leading change efforts so that adoption of new practice approaches can be successful.

For your EBP Project in Week 2 (Application 1 [SEE ATTACHED FILES] ), you identified an issue in your practicum setting in which the outcome is different from what would be expected according to the research literature. This week continue to explore current research literature looking for new evidence to address the problem. In addition, you build on the work you began in this week’s Discussion and select an evidence-based practice model ( The Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice to Promote Quality Care” Or you can use the Johns Hopkins Model) and change theory (USE THE THEORY OF PLANNED BEHAVIOR) or framework that will support your efforts.

To prepare for Application 2 address the following:

  • How      current is the science underlying the practices related to your EBP      Project issue?
  • Consider      possible causes of the difference in outcomes from what would be expected      according to the research literature.
  • Evaluate      the effect the EBP Project issue is having in practice.
  • Using      the Walden Library and other credible sources, locate current research      evidence of new practices that are effective in addressing the issue.
  • Use      the GRADE model presented in the      Guyatt et al. (2011) article to evaluate the research evidence (see      attached file for the article)

The full Application 2 is due by Day 5 of this week. Instructions for how to prepare for previous sections of this Application have been provided in Week 4.

To complete:

Write a 3- to 5-page paper, in APA format with a minimum of 6 scholarly references. PLEASE CITE OFTEN. include the following level one headers as numbered below:

1) Introduction

2) A brief summary of the currency of the science underlying the practices used to address your EBP Project issue

3) Possible causes of the difference in outcomes from what would be expected according to the research literature

4) The effect the EBP Project issue is having in practice

5) Current research evidence on new practices for addressing the EBP Project issue

6) A summary of the evidence-based practice model (including models from other disciplines as appropriate) and/or change theory or framework you will utilize to systematically integrate new approaches to practice to address the issue

7) Summary

PLEASE FOLLOW THE EXACT FORMAT IN THE GRADING RUBRIC. WRITE THE HEADERS EXACTLY AS IN THE GRADING RUBRIC AND ADD AN INTRODUCTION AND SUMMARY. INSERT MY PIICOT QUESTION IN THE BEGINNING OF THE PAPER.

  • Please do not go       over 5 pages. Being concise, but scholarly       and well-cited is a skill. Make sure each word is needed and refrain from       using unnecessary verbiage.  CITE OFTEN
  • Use       level 1 APA headers for each component of the assignment! See assignment       directions and grading rubric for components graded and note the items in       blue should be your headers.
  • You will need a theory to guide your work. For more information on theories… (for mine, please use the theory of       planned behavior that you chose on the first assignment).
  • You will need to EBP model to frame your course-related (6410) EBP project EBP models give you steps       for proceeding in a logical manner. I would recommend you look up the       following article to help you.

social media

Instructions

Many people get all or most of their news from social media. For this project, we are going to be analyzing the content of several social media sites from major news sources, paying particular attention to social media standards, practices, and regulation.

Where do you get your news? Start by going to one major news site’s FACEBOOK page (CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc.) Try another different news site’s TWITTER feed, and third choose another social media site such as Reddit, Pinterest, or another (preferably one you use, if there is one).

Analyze the sites in a 3-5 page total paper. In your analysis, be sure to include the following:

  • General introduction to your thoughts on the social media you studied
  • Several social media practices you observed (e.g., what gets the most interaction?)
  • Examples of regulation of social media and discussion of such regulation (Is it good, bad, or indifferent? How could circumstances change the situation?)
  • Analysis of ethical concerns (e.g., can you see examples of bias?)
  • What is the culture of each site – how do users seem to respond to questionable items? (Is racism or open mocking ignored or pursued?)
  • Conclusion of your findings

clinical care.

The first step of the Evidence Base Practice (EBP) process is to develop a question from the nursing practice problem of interest.

Select a practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research.

Start with the patient and identify the clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care.

Following the PICOT format, write a PICOT statement in your selected practice problem area of interest.

Conduct a literature search to locate research articles focused on your selected practice problem of interest. This literature search should include both quantitative and qualitative peer-reviewed research articles to support your practice problem.

Select six peer-reviewed research articles which will be utilized through the next 5 weeks as reference sources. Be sure that some of the articles use qualitative research and that some use quantitative research. Create a reference list in which the six articles are listed. Beneath each reference include the article’s abstract. The completed assignment should have a title page and a reference list with abstracts.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide

NO PLAGIARISM PLEASE, 6 REFERENCES, 1300 WORDS

Differential Diagnosis

The Assignment:

Examine Case 1. You will be asked to make three decisions concerning the diagnosis and treatment for this client. Be sure to consider co-morbid physical as well as mental factors that might impact the client’s diagnosis and treatment.

At each Decision Point, stop to complete the following:

Decision  #1: Differential Diagnosis

Which  Decision did you select? Why did you select this Decision? Support your response with evidence  and references to the Learning Resources.

  • What       were you hoping to achieve by       making this Decision? Support your       response with evidence and references to the Learning Resources.
  • Explain       any difference between what you       expected to achieve with Decision #1 and the results of the Decision. Why       were they different?
  • Decision      #2: Treatment Plan for Psychotherapy
    • Why       did you select this Decision?       Support your response with evidence       and references to the Learning Resources.
    • What       were you hoping to achieve by       making this Decision? Support your       response with evidence and references to the Learning Resources.
    • Explain       any difference between what you       expected to achieve with Decision #2 and the results of the Decision. Why       were they different?
  • Decision      #3: Treatment Plan for Psychopharmacology
  • Why       did you select this Decision?       Support your response with evidence       and references to the Learning Resources.
  • What       were you hoping to achieve by       making this Decision? Support your       response with evidence and references to the Learning Resources.
    • Explain       any difference between what you       expected to achieve with Decision #3 and the results of the decision. Why       were they different?
  • Also include how ethical considerations      might impact your treatment plan and      communication with clients and their families.

politics and medical science

When politics and medical science intersect, there can be much debate. Sometimes anecdotes or hearsay are misused as evidence to support a particular point. Despite these and other challenges, however, evidence-based approaches are increasingly used to inform health policy decision-making regarding causes of disease, intervention strategies, and issues impacting society. One example is the introduction of childhood vaccinations and the use of evidence-based arguments surrounding their safety.

In this Discussion, you will identify a recently proposed health policy and share your analysis of the evidence in support of this policy.

planning and development stages

While the implementation plan prepares students to apply their research to the problem or issue they have identified for their capstone change proposal project, the literature review enables students to map out and move into the active planning and development stages of the project.

A literature review analyzes how current research supports the PICOT, as well as identifies what is known and what is not known in the evidence. Students will use the information from the earlier PICOT Statement Paper and Literature Evaluation Table assignments to develop a 750-1,000 word review that includes the following sections:

  1. Title page
  2. Introduction section
  3. A comparison of research questions
  4. A comparison of sample populations
  5. A comparison of the limitations of the study
  6. A conclusion section, incorporating recommendations for further research

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

population and technological advances

Module 2 DQ 1 and DQ 2

Tutor MUST have a good command of the English language

Each post should average 150-250 words

Please remember that sources like the CDC or WHO are great places to get information from, but they are not considered scholarly sources. Scholarly sources are peer-reviewed and written by experts in the field.
You can certainly continue to use them as references
Please avoid very lengthy paragraphs because it causes several ideas to be clumped together as one and that is not very clear to understand. Instead, your paragraphs should be about 5-7 sentences long with transition statements to guide the reader into the next though.
Unless otherwise specified, when asked to give examples it is best to give 2 or 3 strong examples with strong supporting evidence backed by your literature review, as opposed to 6 or 7 examples loosely stated.
Citation – Remember to cite content that is not your original idea, and that is not common knowledge.
If you state that “The use of healthcare continues to rise because of technology, access to care and population increase” — this needs to be cited. We as healthcare professionals may understand this, but others may not necessarily know this information. They need to know this was obtained from a source and not just your thought.
If you make inferences or draw conclusions you may state – “some factors that must be considered include technology, increased population and technological advances” – this is not a definitive statement. This shows that you have considered several factors involved and you can then use your references to further elaborate on each factor.
Each post should include appropriate foundation knowledge, be factual, and enhance the ongoing dialogue. Each post should demonstrate either the application and/or reflection of knowledge. Your responses should expand on a classmate’s comments or advance the dialogue through follow-up questions Your responses should be open-ended to encourage continuing the conversation. Very few grammatical/spelling errors

These are two discussion questions

DQ1 and DQ2 posts must be at least 150 words and have at least one reference cited for each question. In-text citation, please

Tutor MUST have a good command of the English language

Sources need to be journal/scholarly articles.

Use only articles that are published between 2015-2018 (except for your theory articles which will be older as you must cite primary sources).

No textbook or direct quotes

Please separate the two DQ with their reference page

My project is CLABSI prevention

DQ 1

What are three payment structures used in the health care industry across the care continuum? How are they similar? How are they different? Is there a single problem that transverses all three of the identified payment structures? Explain.

DQ 2

Identify a significant problem with one of the three payment structures used in the health care industry across the care continuum (from DQ 1) and propose a solution from one of the other two payment structures

Delivering Effective Presentations

Delivering Effective Presentations

As a DNP-prepared nurse, you will likely encounter many different methods of disseminating the findings and implications of an evidence-based project. Each method has unique benefits. As discussed in this course, oral presentations can be an effective medium for delivering the findings of DNP projects.

For this Discussion, consider what makes an oral presentation effective. How might presentation approaches vary for an academic presentation versus a practice-based presentation?

To prepare:

  • Review      various forms of disseminating the findings of an evidence-based project,      as well as strategies for delivering effective presentations in this      week’s Learning Resources.
  • If      applicable, reflect on your experiences practicing with colleagues in a      small group and presenting in other professional or academic situations.      Conduct additional research as necessary to enhance your awareness of what      makes a presentation most effective.
  • Consider      how the needs or dispositions of the intended audience may inform your      presentation.

By tomorrow Wednesday 7/17, write a minimum of 550-word essay in APA format with at least three scholarly references that include the level one headers below:

Post a cohesive response that addresses the following:

1) Share three or more insights related to presentation approaches.

2) Explain how this information may be used to promote the delivery of an effective DNP Project presentation. Be sure to note any considerations related to the intended audience that are important.
