The Pacific Realm and the Polar regions are suffering from the impact of global warming regardless of what you assume is the cause.

The Pacific Realm and the Polar regions are suffering from the impact of global warming regardless of what you assume is the cause. How is that changing their physical environments and what are the long term consequences of that change for the states in the Realm and the two Polar regions?

identify people with these characteristics or develop these skills, so the executive committee can select the best candidates.

Scenario
You are the Project Manager in a large healthcare facility for Be Well Health System. The organization consists of 3 hospitals and 15 clinic/specialty facilities that were acquired over the past 10 years as part of the company’s growth strategy. While the sites are part of the Be Well Health System, many operate independently as they did before the acquisitions.
This strategy has worked well for the organization. Given the changing environment of the healthcare industry, Be Well’s executive team wants to make sure the organization is not growing too fast or stretching their resources too thin and impacting patient care or service. They know other organizations are working to consolidate and standardize their business operations and realize they will need to do the same to remain competitive.
The executive team would like to put together a strategic workgroup with representatives and key stakeholders from all the sites to start exploring how a consolidated organization might look and function successfully for all the sites. You know the group will have a lot of work to do, and in order to be successful, it is important that the right team of people is selected for the workgroup.
You have been asked to provide the group with information about how to identify the skills needed for this new workgroup, build the team, and develop staff so they are successful. You also know that not everyone understand the differences between the principles of management and strategic management, so you plan to start by presenting that information to the group.
As part of the participant’s role on the strategic workgroup, they will need to have strong interpersonal skills and communicate effectively to gather information and provide status updates to their sites. As the executive committee decides which employees to select for this group, they will need to be able to know what skills are needed and how these skills can be developed by the workgroup so the process is successful.
Write a 1-page paper using the project scenario to evaluate communication and interpersonal skills that work group participants should have or be able to develop to be successful. Make recommendations for how you will identify people with these characteristics or develop these skills, so the executive committee can select the best candidates.
APA formatting must be used for all written assignments. This includes title page, formatting and references along with in-text citations. A minimum of 2 references must be used.

What is the role of calcium ion in blood clotting?

My answer will only focus on the specific role of calcium ions in clotting. It will not go into the details of the entire clotting cascade.
Remember the gamma carboxylated clotting factors contain two carboxyl residues. These carboxyl residues are negatively charged, with each of those carrying a charge of -1. Thus two such residues carry a charge of -2 if you do the math. A single calcium ion contains a charge of +2. Therefore this calcium ion serves to bind the clotting factors together for coagulation to occur.

Explain the impact of a promotion from within policy can have on external recruitment.

Five years ago when Bobby Bret joined Crystal Productions as a junior accountant, he felt that he was on his way up. He had just graduated with a B+ average from college, where he was well liked by his peers and faculty and had been an officer in several student organizations. Bobby had shown a natural ability to get along with people as well as to get things done. He remembered what Roger Friedman, the controller at Crystal Productions, had told him when he was hired: “I think you will do well here, Bobby. You’ve come highly recommended. You are the kind of guy that can expect to move right on up the ladder.”
Bobby felt that he had done a good job at Crystal Productions and everybody seemed to like him. In addition, his performance appraisals had been excellent. However, after five years he was still a junior accountant. He applied for two senior accountant positions that were open, but they were both filled by people hired from outside the firm. When the accounting supervisor’s job opened two years ago, Bobby did not apply. He was surprised when his new boss turned out to be a hotshot graduate of State University whose only experience was three years with a large accounting firm. Bobby had hoped that Ron Greene, a senior accountant he particularly respected, would get the job.
On the fifth anniversary of his employment at Crystal Productions, Bobby decided it was time to do something. He scheduled an appointment with the controller. At that meeting Bobby explained to Mr. Friedman that he worked hard to received a promotion and shared his frustration about having been in the same job for so long. “Well,” said Mr. Friedman, “you don’t think that you were better qualified than the people that we have hired, do you?” “No,” said Bobby, “but I think I could have handled the senior accountant job. Of course, the people you have hired are doing a great job too.” The controller responded, “We just look at the qualifications of all the applicants for each job, and considering everything, try to make a reasonable decision.”
Include the following questions in your summary along with the summary questions:
1. Do you believe that Bobby has a legitimate complaint? Explain?
2. Explain the impact of a promotion from within policy can have on external recruitment.

Provide a response to the following questions.
1.     The Wilcox & Keselman (2003) article from this week’s electronic readings discusses two problems with measures of central tendency: skewness of the data and outliers. Discuss each of these issues and how they affect measures of central tendency.
2.     For the following scores, find the mean, median, and mode. Which would be the most appropriate  measure for this data set? You may use Microsoft® Excel® data anlysis to compute these statistics.  You may copy your output from Microsoft® Excel® into this worksheet.
2, 2, 0, 5,1, 4,1, 3, 0, 0, 1, 4, 4, 0,1, 4, 3, 4, 2, 1
3.     Based on the scale of measurement for each variable listed below, which measure of central tendency is most appropriate for describing the data?
a.     The time (in years) it takes a sample of students to graduate college.
b.     The blood type (such as A, B, AB, or O) of a group of participants.
c.     The rankings of college undergraduate academic programs.
4.     How do the sample mean and the population mean differ? What is the symbol for each type of mean?
5.     An expert reviews a sample of 10 scientific articles (n = 10) and records the following numbers of error in each article: 0, 4, 2, 8, 2, 3, 1, 0, 5, and 7. Compute the SS, the variance, and the standard deviation for this sample using the definitional and computational formulas. You may use Microsoft® Excel® data anlysis to compute these statistics. You may copy your output from Microsoft® Excel® into this worksheet.
6.     A psychologist interested in political behavior measured the square footage of the desks in the official office of four U.S. governors and of four CEOs of major U.S. corporations. The figures for the governors were 44, 36, 52, and 40 square feet. The figures for the CEOs were 32, 60, 48, 36 square feet.
a.     Figure the means and standard deviations for the each group: governors and CEOs.
b.     Explain, to a person who has never had a course in statistics, what you have done.
c.     Note the ways in which the means and standard deviations differ, and speculate on the possible meaning of these differences, presuming they are representative of U.S. governors and large corporations’ CEOs in general.
7.     Radel and colleagues (2011) conducted a study of how feeling overly controlled makes you desire—even unconsciously—more freedom. In their study, 52 Canadian undergraduates played a video game in a laboratory and were randomly assigned to one1 of the following:

·         An automony deprivation condition, in which they were told to follow instructions precisely, constantly given instructions over a loudspeaker, and carefully observed on everything they did.
·         A neutral condition, which was much more laid back.

After this activity, they were asked to do a lexical decision task (a standard approach for measuring unconscious responses), in which they were shown a series of words and nonwords in random order and had to press C if it was a real word or N if not. Half of the real words were related to autonomy (such as freedom and choice), and half were neutral (such as whisper and hammer). The key focus of the study was on how long it took people to press the button (response latency) for each kind of real word, averaged over the many words of each type. The table below shows the mean and standard deviation across the participants of these four categories of results. For example, 782 milliseconds (thousandths of a second) is the average time it took participants in the autonomy-deprived condition to respond to the autonomy-related words, and 211 is the standard deviation across the 26 participants’ average response time in that condition. Explain the numbers in this table to a person who has never taken a course in statistics. (Be sure to explain some specific numbers, as well as the general principle of the mean and standard deviation.) For your interest, the pattern of results shown here supported the researchers’ hypothesis: “Relative to a neutral instructional climate, a controlling climate thwarting the need for autonomy…enhanced accessibility for autonomy-related words” (p. 924).
8.     A researcher records the levels of attraction for various fashion models among college students. He finds that mean levels of attraction are much higher than the median and the mode for these data.
a.     What is the shape of the distribution for the data in this study?
b.     What measure of central tendency is most appropriate for describing these data? Why?
9.     An organizational psychologist measures levels of job satisfaction in a sample of 30 participants. To measure the variance of job satisfaction, it is calculated that the SS = 120 for this sample.

What are the degrees of freedom for the variance?
Compute the variance and standard deviation (you will have to do this one by hand).

10.  State the three empirical rules for a normal distribution with any mean and varaince.
