PLEASE REPLY TO MY CLASSMATE RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE QUESTIONS AND EXPLAIN WHY YOU AGREE? (A MINIMUM OF 125 WORDS or MORE)
Stress in the work place is inevitable; despite how much you may like your job. Working with the public is can be very stressful. As an employee of a local government agency, I know about it first-hand. There is always something. Sometimes there will be so much going on; however, we are there to help those in needs and we are not there to take out our frustrations on the clients. You are constantly receiving changes regarding program, policy and or procedures at the most inopportune times; and the only thing that you can do is conform. I learned long ago that in local government, the only thing that is consistent is change.
When it becomes a bit much, I advise my colleagues to just step away from their desk and get some air and or take a mental health day. If you are stressing you will not be a help to your clients. Sometimes you just need to regroup. My go to is word games and or a walk outside of those walls. You must be creative with stress management. It can be challenging; however, it is very necessary to your well-being.
