Assessment/Interview

Select a community of interest. It is important that the community selected be one in which a CLC group member currently resides. Students residing in the chosen community should be assigned to perform the physical assessment of the community.

1. Perform a direct assessment of a community of interest using the “Functional Health Patterns Community Assessment Guide.”
2. Interview a community health and public health provider regarding that person’s role and experiences within the community.

Interview Guidelines

Interviews can take place in-person, by phone, or by Skype. Complete the “Provider Interview Acknowledgement Form” and submit with the group presentation.

Develop one set of interview questions to gather information about the role of the provider in the community and the health issues faced by the chosen community. Compile key findings from the interview, including the interview questions used,   and submit with the  presentation.

Please read Traditional Male Circumcision in Eastern and Southern Africa: A Systematic Review of Prevalence and Complications, located at http://www.who.int/bulletin/volumes/88/12/09-072975/en/, and, after doing so, address the following question:

Is there a line between protecting cultural traditional healing and protecting people’s lives/health? If so, what is the line? Who determines it?

Please remember that every student is entitled to express his or her opinion and that differences of opinion must be communicated in a respectful manner.

This week, you will develop a PowerPoint presentation reviewing the theories from each module. Please select one theory from each module (1-8) and answer the following questions. You should have two slides per theory:

• Describe the theory
• Provide 3 examples of how the theory applies to current practice
• Provide 3 positive patient outcomes resulting from utilizing the theory
• Explain 3 benefits to nursing satisfaction when utilizing the theory
• Describe two barriers to using the theory in practice and at least one method for overcoming each barrier (support methods with sources)
• Support from literature clearly noted throughout

The PowerPoint presentation should include at least two outside references and the textbook. The presentation should contain 2 to 4 slides per theory, for a total of 16 to 32 slides.

Complete ALL of the bullet points below:

Compare and contrast each of the three questions related to Managed Care Organizations, Medicare, and Medicaid with one another and explain how they were similar and different to each other.

• Managed care organizations emphasize physicians’ responsibilities to control patient access to expensive hospitalization and specialty care, a principle dubbed “gatekeeping.” Some argue that “gatekeeping” is unethical because it introduces financial factors into treatment decisions. Others say it improves quality by promoting the use of the most appropriate levels of care.
• Medicare is an area that often gets overlooked and is seen as a burden financially. Discuss alternatives to ease the drain on Medicare resources.
• Medicaid is shouldering an ever-increasing burden of cost for long-term care for the elderly, with enormous impacts on state budgets throughout the nation. Discuss alternatives to ease this drain on Medicaid resources.

Please submit one APA formatted table, (minimum 1500 words) that highlights the above content make sure to include a title and reference page. The assignment should have a minimum of two scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook.
