In Week 3 you conducted an annotated bibliography using the course competencies as a guide in choosing the articles. For this week you will take that information and incorporate it into a final paper. For this paper, choose one anxiety disorder to focus on and write about in detail. Discuss its history, diagnostic criteria, etiology, demographics, treatments, and how it compares to other anxiety disorders.
The paper is not just a review of the current literature it is a culmination of what you have learned over the course. As in Week 3 use the course competencies as a guide to developing your paper:

The major psychological theories and principles in the field of anxiety disorders
The historical link to modern issues and trends in the field of anxiety disorders
The nature of social, cognitive, emotional, and developmental factors in the etiology, course, and duration of anxiety disorders
The major and subtle differences between anxiety disorders according to DSM criteria
The typical course and duration of anxiety disorders
Comorbidity and recidivism
Commonly used treatments for anxiety disorders
The influence of developmental level, gender, and socioeconomic status on the presentation of anxiety disorders

Your paper should adhere to the following guidelines:For the main sections, it should have:

A title page
An abstract (not more than 250 words) 
An introduction
A literature review 
Discussion or conclusions

Introduction: This should be one to two pages in length. The introduction provides a brief overview of what will be covered and the purpose of the research paper.
Literature review: The literature review is taken in part from what you wrote in Week 3. The literature review is NOT a copy of that material. Rather, it is a discussion of your topic using the information you learned from reading that material and other articles and citing those sources.
Discussion and conclusions: The difference between a great research paper and a marginal one is the depth and originality of the discussion and conclusions section. This is where you bring together what you learned from the literature review (as well as through the course) in your concluding remarks regarding your topic. You are giving your opinion and analysis of the information, supported by what you have found in the research as well as other readings. The discussion and conclusions section should be one to two pages in length.

In his article “Personal Best” physician Atul Gawande writes that the traditional model of coaching is “different from the traditional conception of pedagogy, where there’s a presumption that, after a certain point, the student no longer needs instruction” (3). If this is so, why does Dr. Gawande, a highly educated professional, decide that he wants a coach? Summarize Dr. Gawande’s views about coaching. Next, draw a connection between the ideas put forth in Gawande’s essay and the article “You Can Grow Your Brain.”
To conclude, explain how your own knowledge and experiences connect to the ideas put forth in one or both of the essays. Although there are three parts, you should write a single essay with an introduction that contains a thesis or organizational statement (the main idea of your essay), 2-3 body paragraphs, and a short conclusion.

Discussion: Over-Treatment and Under-Treatment of Addiction
The term levels of treatment refers to a continuum arranged by intensity of treatment. The levels of treatment range from the least to the most intense and aggressive approaches. The American Society of Addiction Medicine’s Patient Placement Criteria (PPC), the most frequently used and studied treatment levels classification system, divides the intensity continuum into four levels (Mee-Lee & Gastfriend, 2008). The PPC starts with Level I, outpatient treatment, which includes the least aggressive approaches. The system increases incrementally in intensity ending with Level IV, intensive inpatient treatment.
The appropriate level of treatment is determined by many factors, including the severity of addiction, prior treatment history, and the unique needs of the individual receiving the services. It is often desirable to try the least intrusive and restrictive level of treatment appropriate, as long as the individual’s safety is not jeopardized. Other important factors must also be considered when determining the appropriate level of treatment, such as the need to continue earning a living or raising a family and the individual’s stage of readiness for treatment (Prochaska, DiClemente, & Norcross, 1992). Knowledge of the levels of treatment may help an addiction professional determine the most appropriate levels of care based on the unique needs of each individual. Over-treatment and under-treatment of addiction can interfere with a client’s progress on the path toward recovery and result in adverse consequences.
For this Discussion, review this week’s readings. Then review the media and reflect on how the counselor employed the continuum of levels of treatment in the counseling session with Marge (PDF attached). Consider potential consequences of over-treating or under-treating Marge.
