How do you think they went about doing that?

Late one night, a system administrator troubleshoots a network problem. He/she captures several minutes’ worth of network traffic to review with the protocol analyzer. While conducting the review, she notices some odd traffic. A user’s desktop has sent a well-formed packet to an obscure port on an unfamiliar IP address outside the company’s firewall. Shortly thereafter, one of the company’s research and development database servers transmits a packet that does not conform to any of the formats the company uses to the same IP address. Upon investigation, the administrator finds out that the IP address is associated with one of their competitors. Upon calling his/her supervisor, they are told to “just block the port”, however there is much more that can be done. Explain how you would have handled the situation.
2. You believe that your laptop has been used to make purchases of illegal drugs via the dark web. You live with 2 roommates and often leave your laptop lying around the apartment. What would you do– how would you use Digital Forensics to gather more information?
3.A customer at a bank in Chicago deposits a check. The bank video camera captures an image of the customer entering the bank branch and matches it against its database of customers. The image is time and date stamped. Later that day, the customer’s savings account is accessed via the Internet banking from an IP address in Italy. During a routine correlation of data, the apparent discrepancy is detected by the bank’s forensics system. How would you, as a computer forensics specialist, go about investigating the incident?
4.An accounting firm was conducting an audit of a publicly owned company when they came upon some accounting irregularities. The irregularities were serious enough to potentially necessitate a re-stating of earnings. Considering the many scandals currently blighting the corporate sector, the accounting firm wishes to confirm their findings before sounding any public alarms. The have hired you to conduct a large-scale data mining to get to the bottom of the irregularities. How would you, and your team, go about conducting a forensics data mining operation?
5. When the CEO of a major company opened his email one morning, he was shocked to see that overseas hackers were sending him confidential files from his own desktop hard drive. The hacker demanded hundreds of thousands of dollars as a “consulting fee,” and threatened to disclose the information and the weaknesses in the company’s security if the money (ransom) wan not paid. A professional computer forensics expert was hired to work with the client’s networking team, and they were able to preserve the evidence of the attack and assist in determining how the attack occurred. How do you think they went about doing that?

Select one of the theories (biological causes, psychological causes, or sociocultural causes) and defend and support how the selected approach can explain why people use psychoactive drugs

Substance Use Disorders 400 WORDS NO COVER SHEET NEEDED
In society, many people link abusing drugs or alcohol to an individual’s lack of personal responsibility or morality. Prior to American model Anna Nicole Smith’s death, which was from an apparently accidental overdose of several prescription medications, her son, Daniel, had died just months before from an apparent drug overdose. This incident poses the question of whether the son inherited a vulnerability to addiction from his mother or was the habit picked up from living with her over the years.
To prepare for this week’s Discussion, review the following sources in addition to this week’s assigned Reading.
Harvard Health. (2011, July). How addiction hijacks the brain. Retrieved from http://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletter_article/how-addiction-hijacks-the-brain In the case studies in the Course Resources, read Case Study 3 Ellis: Substance Use Disorder: Opioid Proceed with this week’s Discussion by addressing the following about the nature of substance use disorders:Provide an overview of the biological, psychological, sociocultural theories surrounding the causes of substance use disorders. Next, select one of the theories (biological causes, psychological causes, or sociocultural causes) and defend and support how the selected approach can explain why people use psychoactive drugs, such as the individual in this week’s case study. Based on the selected cause, explain why it is difficult for a person to stop the drug or alcohol use and addiction. The strongest answer will refer to the textbook and concepts from the Reading material or other credible sources.

Now that you have had a chance to read, absorb and comment on the â??The Nine Deadly Sins of Project

Now that you have had a chance to read, absorb and comment on the “The Nine Deadly Sins of Project Planning†in our Week 2 Discussion, for this Assignment we are going to take a more in depth and personal look at the McConnell article. For many students, the article appears to be simple “common sense” however as you found out in our Discussions, people from different cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, geographic location and education actually have very different perspectives on what “common sense” is. Everyone is more or less susceptible to each of the ‘Sins’ but more than likely 2 or 3 stood out for you personally more than the others. For this Assignment, please identify at least 3 or more ‘sins’ that you feel you specifically have had or still have to deal with and write a 500 – 700 word paper that discusses how you are going to prepare yourself against these “deadly sins†so that you will successfully complete the project of your University education.
